My Lesson Handouts

One of my absolute favorite things in life are lesson handouts!! I LOVE them! . . .Seriously, LOVE them! I love getting them. I love making them. I love giving them out. Growing up I kept all of my church lesson handouts and taped them to my wall. By the time I graduated high school 3 out of my 4 bedroom walls were completely covered (floor to ceiling) with quotes, scriptures, personal progress, index cards, pictures, song lyrics, etc. that I had been given in my church classes. I framed my favorites and had them organized by topic on my walls. :) LOOOVVEEEE HANDOUTS!!

So, as you can imagine - when I was called to be the Beehive advisor - I was super psyched to make handouts to give my girls!! So under this tab, I am going to compile all my handouts for others to steal and use! (Please note, not all my handouts are original! I will make notes on those that are not, so the creative people who did come up with them get the recognition they deserve) Unfortunately - the computer that I've been using for the past year crashed :( So I only have the few I've made the past month or so. But as time continues, I will continue to add them here :) :)

To be honest, with the new curriculum I'm not sure how much help these old handouts will be. But hey, you never know. And at least they will be saved here - so if my computer dies again, I wont lose them! :)

"Sister Taylor's Guide to Group Dating"

Obviously, we were talking about dating. But I also worked in the Law of Chastity and things of the like.  I really emphasized to my girls that group dates are SO MUCH BETTER than single dates! (which, we all know they are!) The Prophets have counseled the youth to group date first, helps keep them out of trouble and increases social skills. Plus, there are a few added bonuses they were interested in too : less awkward, fewer opportunities to embarrass yourself, more people = more activities you can do, etc.

Here is the link to Sister Taylor's Guide to Group Dating . This is my own personal creation! (I think some of my pictures went a little askew when I uploaded to Google docs. If you know how to fix them, AWESOME! But you'll probably want to add your own pictures and edit the date ideas/name/etc. . . I would suggest creating your own from scratch. Its really simple using Microsoft Word - they have a "pamphlet creator"  And it is really easy to use!  :)

Thought Journal

I made these basic thought journals so the girls could reflect on a lesson I was teaching. The lesson was on the power of thoughts! (creative, I know. Haha) Again, my upload to Google docs messed up my formatting - so my colors are crazy weird and for some reason the pic I added to the back cover is freakin out! lol. But you can easily make your own on Microsoft Word. But here is the link to Thought Journal .

Freezer Meals

So, these were not actually used for a Sunday lesson. . . I was put in charge of a Wednesday night activity. So we did a Freezer Meals Night! It was a ton of fun and the girls really learned a lot :) I began by dividing them into teams and started with a game going over these Fun Facts. Then I gave them this Frozen Food Quiz. They had 1 minute to complete it. We went over the answers together. Next, I told them we'd be participating in a Frozen Freezer Meal Cook-Off. (I had bought the ingredients to 3 freezer meals/team to be made and were set up in the kitchen) The team who got the most questions right on the Quiz got a 3 minute head start. I gave them the cooking instructions and let them go for it in the kitchen. The team who finished first won a small bag of candy. In order to be "Finished" they had to 1-Cook the Meal according to the Directions. 2-Put into freezer bag WITH the date written on it AND put into a designated area AND put the cooking instructions with each finished meal. 3- Clean their cooking area, pots, pans, etc. AND have it checked by a leader. We finished the activity by taking the meals to 2 women in our ward who had just had babies. (that way they can put them in the freezer and used them WHENEVER they need them! Rather than having to eat them that night.) Lastly, I gave them this Fresh to Frozen hand out. It was a really really fun activity!!! :)
